If a website conducts a contest and I were submit a story about a person and a photo of them, is that illegal? If it is, who is liable, me or the website owner? I ask because there is a contest and the website asks for your story and you have an option of submitting this persons photo to go along with the story and they will be placed on the page for viewers to vote on. Any help would be great….Thanks!
What if the photo is of someone who is in jail and their photo has been in the news?
If I took it myself, then I would be the copyright holder?

I heard there is a new law that Bush passed banning photos which depict partial ****** online. This applies even if the subject is not exposing any areas of the body that would by customary legal definition be “obscene”, so long as the viewer is given the impression of an unclothed bodily form. For example posting a photo from a magazine advertisement of a man wearing low-rise boxer briefs — but cropped just above the waistband — would now be prohibited since you cannot determine if he is actually wearing pants. What is this law called?
I was told this by a representative of the ***.com personals site. But I have been unable to find any evidence of such a law which gets me concerned whether I was decieved.
After further investigation there appears to have been a comprehensive campaign introduced by the Bush Administration last week that locks down on child predators and Internet pornography. It is known as the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act of 2006. However, I can’t find the specific language in the Act that pertains to my question. But it appears another similar law, the Child Online Protection Act (COPA), once it finally gets passed will severely ***** down on all freely accessible material online that is considered harmful to minors (although what qualifies is still disputed).
