Who says photography is waste of money? I would say it is a hobby that every human being should pursue. There are so many beautiful things around us and each of us cannot have a look at them in our life time. Photography is a way of sharing the happiness of being alive and having a life with intelligence to admire beautiful things. A picture can tell many things and hence, I would suggest a new proverb, “A picture is mightier than a sword”, for your consideration. It is true that you can change the lives of many people using a picture. A picture can tell you a gruesome story, or give you a great motivation to do good things.
Photographs are snapshots of time. They do not tell you what has happened in the past or what happened after the photograph is clicked. But, it will give you the glimpse into the past and contains all the information that the beholder can see. So, if you are interested in photography, then, you have the whole world to explore. You can explore the natural surroundings around you including underwater photography or the people belonging to different cultures or the fashion world. Whatever stream of photography you choose, you are set to have a great fun and entertain yourself and others around you.
If you want to become an expert photographer, then, you need to know how to use different camera accessories effectively. Having thorough knowledge of the accessories like lens, tripod, slide copier, etc… can differentiate you as a professional photographer from an amateur.
Photography is not just an art. It has become part of the science as well. For example, in forensic science the photography is used in crime scene investigations and is integral part of the investigation. Also, to find life on other planets NASA has spent millions of dollars to send a probe to these planets and the probes have taken amazing pictures of the planets and sent them back to earth. Hence, a hobby can bring you the opportunity to earn money as well if you are serious and take it up as a profession.
Just like a traditional analogue camera needs film, a digital camera needs memory to store your photographs. Most digital cameras come with a pitiful amount of internal memory, so you are almost required to buy a memory card as your first accessory.
Don’t stop at getting a single memory card for your digital camera, though. There are several reasons why you should get more than just one. For starters, digital camera memory cards are cheap and don’t take up any space, and having several will greatly improve your chances to take more and better pictures.
For example, if you are about to go on a remote trip, somewhere where it will be difficult to transfer the images to a computer on a regular basis, such as on a sailing boat for instance, having a lot of digital camera memory cards will allow you to take more pictures.
But the greatest thing about having several digital camera memory cards is that you will use the camera differently, not more weighing every single picture but having the luxury to take several shots of the same subject and then to choose the best one later.
With many digital cameras, you can take a single shot and the camera will automatically save several, with different lighting and exposure conditions. As a result a single picture will morph into four or five onto your storage card, which is why you will need a lot of storage.
Just visualize the difference between being able to take dozens, or hundred photos a day while travelling. Taking a lot of extra pictures means that you will also end up with more photos to choose from at the end of your trip, resulting in nicer photo albums.
Another good thing of considering storage cards as crucial digital camera accessories is that if you ever forget to download the pictures onto a computer or other storage, you will not find yourself with a lot of interesting thing to snap but no memory to do it, because the memory you have is full.
So as you can see, there are several reasons why extra digital camera memory cards as accessories is a sensible proposition. When you buy them, be especially attentive to getting the ones that are the right format for your camera, there are several manufacturers and not all storage cards are compatible across cameras.
You will find digital camera storage cards with 32 gigabytes or more, but don’t put all your eggs in one basket by buying a single one, spread your storage across several memory cards for security, should one card fail.
Once you have a lot of digital camera memory cards, you should also get a card reader to transfer pictures to a PC more quickly, or also to send them directly to a digital camera printer.
Looking to buy a camera that you can take underwater without a special housing? Learn more about the options and pitfalls of underwater cameras by reading the following tips:
1) First of all, the fastenings: Your camera is only just as waterproof as its gaskets, so check these regularly, especially the ones places that are opened more frequently, such as memory card slots and buttons.
2) Next, the picture quality: Nowadays most cameras come with at least 5 megapixels of resolution and you may want to stick to that. Less resolution only represents a small saving, and much higher ones won’t make much of a difference for underwater cameras, except if you are a pro with special needs.
3) Looks and bulkiness. These are important, as you need to make sure that the device will fit your hand and your swimming or diving style. Some cameras come in bright colors to aid visibility, but not everyone likes them. If there is something that you miss, shop around some more and you may just find what you are seeking.
4) Industry certifications: Often overlooked by people when choosing a waterproof camera, these give you peace of mind about the standard that your camera was built to. You should look at Japanese Industry Standard designation Waterproof 8 for a camera that you can take on shallow dives, up to 5 meters.
5) Features and extras: Check that the waterproof camera has all the things you need. Important ones for underwater use are shutter speed and burst picture mode, good lens aperture, autofocus, and a powerful flash.
6) You bought a waterproof camera? Great! Now clean it. Regularly. Be especially vigilant around dust, tar and sand, these will destroy your gaskets and water WILL leak into your device, rending it useless. Or your lens will jam. A well maintained camera is a long-lived camera.
7) Be aware of chemicals, they will also damage your camera’s waterproof junctions. And it’s not only nasty chemicals such as petrol. Chlorine will shorten the life if your camera, so keep it out of pools and only take it to natural freshwater or saltwater bodies. Use a cheap disposable waterproof “fun” camera to take pics of the kiddies in the pool.
Waterproof does not mean submersible in all conditions. Know your maximum depth rating and adhere to it strictly. And of course, to not submerse a camera if it’s just splash-proof. Also, avoid exposing your waterproof camera to direct sunlight and extremes of temperature.
9) Learn about your waterproof camera and its performance gradually. Don’t take it take it to a dive right away, experiment with it in a shallow place first. Read the manual and try out the effect of different picture options, and you will soon be shooting like a pro.
A digital camera has almost become the only way to take good pictures these days, but after having acquired the basic camera you will need to ask yourself if you need picture-improving accessories to go with it, and if yes, how to select them.
Digital photography allows you to touch many lives through images of beauty and art which will be able to take and to keep in electronic format. People who are very good at it have started out with this as a hobby but some even managed to turn it into a profession!
Regardless of whether photography is a profession or a pastime for you, you will find that digital camera accessories are not only for the experts, but that there are extras available even for the most basic compact camera. Even some cell phones with cameras have dedicated accessory lines!
Although the variety of camera accessories is great, some are more exotic and meant mainly for pros. But certain accessories are of great use to everyone. Here are the most common ones:
The first probable investment for your digital camera will probably be the camera bag, which is where you place all the equipment that you need when you are location shooting but also when you are traveling, and it would also serve as your basic case where all your photography equipment is stored and protected. It is also one of the most inexpensive accessories that you may ever buy and add to this is that they enable you carry and protect the expensive equipment that you carry around.
Camera bags come in many different shapes, sizes and colors. While you may also carry your camera in a normal bag it makes sense to invest in a specialized bag as it’s purpose-made and often padded.
Of all the digital camera accessories, perhaps the camera tripod of the most useful – it reduces camera shake and therefore the likelihood of a blurred picture, especially in low light conditions, and allows you to take pics from unusual angles. Tripods may seem bulky at first, but bear in mind that a great majority of tripods are either foldable or retractable and should be able to fit in most of the medium size to larger camera bags.
Make sure that the tripod you buy fits your camera attachment, or you will be sorely disappointed. Once you will start using one of these beauties, you will find yourself in many photography situations where you will wonder how to do without.
The next most useful kind of digital camera accessories are probably those who prolong your picture-taking. Both extra batteries and memory storage cards fall into these categories. Batteries allow you to take pictures for longer without recharging the camera and are fundamental in faraway locales, while extra storage cards are great for sports photography, when you will need to take a whole lot of pictures.

I am trying to upload a gallery to my website of my recent photography for my customers; however, I am unable to figure out how to make the pictures smaller because they only load in their original format. Is there any html code I can use to make them smaller, or some sort of html code to make some sort of slideshow that the viewer can change the pace and view of the photos? Thanks!
I came to know that I lost a bunch of photos from my system after formatting my sys. With the help of a data recovery s/w some of those images recovered. Though I am able to see the full image in thumbnail view, when i try to open them with MS pic& Fax viewer, they dint not even with any other application.
Please help me to sort out this problem.
