Wedding photography is on the list of priorities when planning for the big day. Many people don’t know whether to hire a pro or ask someone from family or friends to take up the pretty challenging photo shooting tasks. Here are a few tips that may help you decide what to do about wedding photography.

Write down the exact moments that you want to get photographed on that day. Couples often insist on family photos and couple photos. Everybody wants to be there in the photos, and wedding photography services can satisfy the customers’ requirements better than anyone.

The family shooting part could be very stressful; there is a predominant festive spirit and people move chaotically about the place. Group wedding photography can be better organized if you ask someone to play the part of family photo coordinator. Rounding everyone up, getting them in the shot and keeping things moving is essential in order not to waste too much of a couple’s time.

Wedding photography will take you to different locations, and the photographer as well as the couple need to have an idea about some of the positions for shots. Go run a few tests before the big day and take some photos on the spot. Preparation is certainly the key!

Weather can raise challenges for wedding photography, which is why a backup plan comes more than helpful. Then, do not forget to charge the batteries for the camera, take blank memory cards and get an itinerary of the full day in order to make an idea of what happens with every step of the way. Such careful planning helps a professional photographer a lot when it comes to meeting the clients’ requirements.

An issue worthy of your consideration is the style of wedding photography. Discussions should cover all the details such as the things that the couple want recorded, the number of shots, the objectives they have in mind and the price. More than one cameras will be used for wedding photography so that the photos can be taken both at short and wide angles.

For very large events that require highly complex wedding photography, more photographers would have to work together in order to rise up to the expectations. With professionalism, lots of things can be achieved and the results will be truly amazing.

How are you able to put a restriction on studying much more? The next area may well include that one tiny bit of wisdom that shifts each and every little thing.

The very very first and foremost move to make is to make the list of all of the things that will be needed during the wedding ceremony. Meals, decoration for the primary function, flowers, cake, drinks, audio, portrait photographers, guests, wedding gown of the bride and dinner coat for the groom are some important items in this list. Then you should sit down with your would- be husband or wife and settle on your priorities. Choose five most significant items from this list so that you can spend fairly bit freely on these things. Nonetheless, this is definitely not a simple job to short list only five items from the list somewhere every single item seems crucial. But, here you might be laying the basis of a victorious wedding plan. Be sure to plan out your visit with a professional photographer.

Here is one more crucial point for conserving funds throughout wedding ceremonies that the majority of of people typically ignore. Arranging the wedding during off- season can save an enormous quantity of money. So, it is wise to recognize dates which are open at the venue of your selection before finalizing the date of the wedding. This is better then the normal approach adopted by individuals in which they visit the venue once finalizing their wedding date in advance. You may wind up in making an excellent bargain if you fix your wedding in any of the attainable dates at the venue.

First cameras became simple and cheap and many decided to be their own amateur photographer. Then digital photography took over and the average person can now take the pictures and print the results cheaper than they formerly let others do it. Yet, here are some reasons why being the chief photographer isn’t always best at all.

The first problem with being the chief photographer is that you must always be looking for the ‘perfect shot’ instead of enjoying what is happening. If you’re going to do a good job, you must think like a photographer. Yet, when you get done, you have a set of good pictures but no memories of what happened? Recently we got a call to watch a TV station to see our granddaughter in a parade. I spent the time trying to get the camera to focus on the TV and missed seeing her. I wish I had just enjoyed the moment and waited until they sent the pictures.

Agreed, the electronics in cameras make them very versatile. However, it can be difficult to keep straight how to make the camera do what you want. What do all the icons on top mean? Do you know how to turn on or off the auto focus or flash? What does P, TV, Av, or M stand for? Of course you can look them up in the manual but unless you keep using the features, you will forget and then they are as if not present on the camera.

Then too, if you are going to be the photographer, you will have to get behind people, stand up when others are seated, and basically make yourself obnoxious at times so you can get the perfect angle. Further, you can lose a lot of friends by sticking the camera in their face every time they smile. You may well be required to prod and cajole them into smiling just once more. Why not let someone else be the bad guy for a change?

All right, you do become the chief photographer at an important event. Now you are the hero whom others figure has all the time in the world to send them CDs filled with all your good shots. Or you might spend your time sending the pictures to others via email or posting them on a webpage.

It is not just a matter of time either. Though digital photography need never be printed, some friends simply don’t have access to this media. For them you will need to buy photographic paper and lots of ink for your printer. Are you without a printer? If not, be sure to get one that has multiple ink cartridges so that they can be replaced individually when all the relatives keep asking for more prints.

You won’t have any trouble being identified as a tourist if you hang a camera around your neck and take plenty of shots. And don’t be surprised if people decide your pictures are more important to you than they are.

If you have a plugged toilet, you get a plunger and fix it. But if you need a new water heater, you call the experts. That is also true of photography. Of course you don’t want to throw away your camera. But also relax and enjoy life and, at least sometimes, let others make the photo recordings.

When you want your photos done right, choosing the best photographer for your needs is worth the investment. If you follow the principles above, you will likely be glad you had it done professionally. One of the best marriage practices is the hiring of a marriage shutter-bug to finish a wedding photography package to document your special day. For most of the people, they’ll only experience marrying once in their lifetime and they want to have the memories of the day documented by marriage photography. Having the proper individual doing your marriage photography on your special day will go a great distance towards making the memories of the day that you wish.

Some of the most beautiful examples of wedding photography are the posed shots that are used to document the big hitters in the marriage party and show how everybody looked on the special day. There are typically many shots of the bride alone in different poses, showing off her marriage dress from different angles and the expression on her face reflecting the happiness of the day. There might also be many shots of the bride and the groom together in different settings and locations to demonstrate their unity and how well they look together as a couple. In a number of cases, these posed photos are taken hours or maybe days before the rite.

Some of the posed shots for the wedding photography will be taken either just before or merely after the real marriage rite. These pictures include photos of the bride with her bridesmaids, the groom with his groomsmen, the couple at the altar, the couple with their mom and pop, and the whole marriage party together. Some people choose to have their marriage photography taken before the rite so that everyone still is spotless with hair and makeup ready but some others opt to have the wedding photography conducted in the interlude between the marriage rite and the marriage reception.

When it comes to marriage photography, many of us like to have candid shots of their marriage too. Footage of the bride’s folks on the dance floor swaying to a love song or the grandparents of the groom holding hands as they hear the toasts offer an intimate look into the way the marriage of the couple has influenced the numerous folks around them. The candid shots might also be of the bride-to-be and groom in different positions,eg feeding each other marriage cake, raising their glasses in appreciation of a toast, or gazing into each other’s eyes. Wedding photography is a good way to catch the moments of the day and provide an obvious reminder that you can enjoy for many years yet to come.

Weddings are, usually, beautiful occasions for the couple getting married as well as their guests. As Hello magazine inspired weddings become more and more lavish, however, the costs of the typical wedding have also become exhorbitant. The average American wedding cost the couple an incredible ,000, and in the UK the average figure was even higher at £20,000. I don’t have to tell you that’s an insane amount of money to spend on a single day. But more and more couples are feeling the pinch of the recession now, and are looking for a way of getting married on a budget, without spoiling any of the magic of the occasion. Among the drastic measures being taken are asking guests to help with food or music, trimming down invitations to close friends and family only, and the idea of a ‘pre-worn wedding dress’ has appeared in recent years, which was unheard of just 10 years ago. Hiring a wedding photographer is one area where a lot of brides and grooms are not, however, willing to cut corners, and rightly so. Your wedding pictures are one of the few lasting memories you have from that all too fleeting day, and of course it’s something you’d want done perfectly and in style. Here are a few tips on how to stay within your budget for wedding photography without having to take a cut in quality.

1. Making the best of Google

There aren’t many photographers around today that don’t have a website, and one of the best ways of finding and comparing wedding photographers in your area and price range is through search engines like Google. However with competition being so fierce it’s not hard for prospective brides and grooms to miss out on some really special and talented photographers by not looking far enough when searching. Don’t be content with just looking at Page 1 of the results or the first few sponsored listings. Make sure you spend time going deep into the search results and coming up with a shortlist of photographers in your budget so you can really compare a range of styles and options. Another tip is dont just settle for the most obvious phrases when you’re searching – try a few different searches, being sure to look at surrounding towns and regions as many photographers are willing to travel to cover a wedding. For example for my wedding I not only searched for “Wedding Photographer in Brighton” but also surrounding areas such as London, Hampshire and Kent.

2. Be Wary of “Stealth Charges”

Nowadays the vast majority of photographers use digital cameras rather than older film cameras requiring development in a darkroom. That means the wedding photography prices are a lot more simple now too. Yet many photographers are still working off the model of charging couples for each print they want after the wedding – that’s an additional cost on top of what you’ve already paid for their time! Always look for photographers willing to give you all the images from the day on CD. Armed with this CD you can then trot down to your high street photo printers and get the prints you want in the size you want at minimal cost.

3. Albums and Extras: Do It Yourself!

Traditional wedding albums with flowery covers and peeling pages are becoming a relic of the past. Today you have stylish wedding photo books are now the norm and extremely popular – but with a lot of wedding photographers adding these on to your package significantly increases the overall cost. Yet if you’re willing to make a little effort yourself and you have some creative flair, there are many photobook services now where you can design one at home and get them printed at bargain prices. Ditto when it comes to canvas prints or blow up posters really – as long as you have high quality original image files from your photographer, you can pretty much do it all yourself!

4. Dont Get Taken in By the Scam Artists

Everyon’e heard a story about a couple who got scammed by a so-called “photographer” who ran off with their money. Such criminals, who it must be said are few and far between, lure couples in with a too good to be true package, often stolen photos, and once they receive the deposit you never hear from them again. It breaks my heart to hear about this sort of thing. But it can be easily avoided with vigilance. Firstly, ensure that any payment of deposits or fees are done via bank transfer – its the most secure method of payment, and can be traced and reversed in the event of a problem. Also make sure you get a legally binding contract from the photographer which states clearly what you are getting for your money and will protect you. And lastly, just make sure you have your radar up – try and visit the photographer, see lots of examples of his work and ask lots of questions.

5. Don’t Forget To Insist on Quality!

My last tip is perhaps the opposite of a moneysaving one, but just as important as the others. In your quest to cut your wedding budget don’t go too far! Like I said, the photography is quite possibly THE most important part of your wedding, especially when you look back. In this world of ubiquitous DSLR cameras, wannabe photographers with little experience are ten a penny. If you look at their prices they seem like a bargain. But sometimes the biggest bargains can be found by going up one price point. Your photographer’s portfolio should always make you go “wow” – otherwise what’s the point of having a wedding photographer?

A wedding is such a special time, most couples want it photographed professionally. After all, hopefully it is a once in a lifetime event so preserving it right is important! Some couples prefer to have their wedding pictures taken in a church or home or hall where the weather is not a factor. Others want the backdrop to depict the beauty of nature and, perhaps, their own personal interests as well.

If you want outdoor pictures of your wedding and live in the Virginia Beach area, then you are in luck. This area of far eastern Virginia has such a variety of possibilities that just about any couple would be satisfied with the choices.

People living in the Virginia Beach area have probably developed a love for its multitude of beaches. Located right on the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay, the area borders both the Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. This means miles of beaches, such as Baylake Beach, North Virginia Beach, and Sandbridge Beach provide plenty of places for a wedding party to get some classic shots against the ocean. Other backdrops might include piers and sand dunes.

Since Virginia Beach is on the ocean, it is no surprise that no less than twelve lighthouses don its horizon. Many of these make unique backdrops for wedding pictures. For example, the original Cape Henry Lighthouse was built in 1792 but in 1881 was replaced with an iron one. Both are still standing erect at the ocean’s edge where they guided ships to and from the ocean and bay.

Lynnhaven Bay and Lake Smith reservoir intersect the city, leaving miles of forested dead end roads and secluded waterfront homes. Some of these homeowners are glad to allow a couple to have their wedding pictures taken in their yard.

Another possible wedding backdrop would be one of the many beautiful public parks in Virginia Beach. Perhaps your photographer will recommend the best possibilities if you are not familiar with the area. A spring wedding could include the dazzling beauty of the flowering fruit trees at Brookdale Farm. Perhaps the wedding colors could be picked to match the blossoms, making a picture perfect scene.

History buffs may enjoy incorporating the historicity of Virginia Beach with their wedding theme. For example, Lynnhaven House in Virginia Beach was built in 1725 by Francis Thelaball II. Today it looks much the same as when it was constructed, even furnished with costumed interpreters. The Old Coast Guard Station, a 100 year-old building on the beach, also adds a unique flavor to the wedding pictures.

These are just a few of the multitude of locations perfect for capturing your wedding in the context of the city where it is held. Instead of stale, indoor pictures, why not consider incorporating the beauty in and around Virginia Beach to the record of your special day?

Applying these principles will have your wedding pictures be unforgettable. Ready to take action? Consider the services of Expressions Photography, an experienced Virginia Beach Photographer. See their website portfolio for results.

A wedding is a wonderful occasion, both for the happy couple, and their friends and family. But the cost of a wedding can frequently cause a lot of misery both before and after the big day. Last year, the average US couple spent $20k on their wedding, with the average in the UK being far higher at a whopping £20k, or $38k. That’s probably the most expensive day you’ll ever have (unless you one day throw a winning lottery ticket in the wash). As the recession gets worse and job security declines, brides and grooms to be are become incresingly wary of such expensive weddings and are naturally looking for a cheaper way. Couples are cutting down guest lists, asking for friends and family to help out instead of hiring caterers, DJs and videographers, and brides are increasingly considering pre-worn wedding dresses. Yet the photography is one area few are prepared to compromise on, and with good reason. Your wedding pictures are one of the few lasting memories you have from that all too fleeting day, and of course it’s something you’d want done perfectly and in style. Below are my top five tips on how to keep your wedding photography budget low, without compromising on quality.

1. Trust in Google

Any wedding photographer worth their salt will have a website displaying their work, and the best way to find them is, as always, by Googling. Yet with the market being so saturated it’s easy for couples to miss out on some amazing photographers and great prices by not using the power of Google enough. Don’t be content with just looking at Page 1 of the results or the first few sponsored listings. Make sure you spend time going deep into the search results and coming up with a shortlist of photographers in your budget so you can really compare a range of styles and options. Also don’t just go for the obvious search terms – make sure you vary your searches, and always include a few local areas and towns to find photographers who are slightly further afield but willing to travel. My wife and I live in Sussex, and when looking for our photographer we not only searched “Wedding Photographer in Sussex“, we also made sure to look for photographers in London, Kent and Hampshire.

2. Be Wary of “Stealth Charges”

In this day and age most photographers are using digital equipment rather than old school film cameras requiring darkroom processing. That means the wedding photography prices have become a lot simpler. However believe it or not a lot of wedding photographer still work on a pay-per-print model, where couples have to choose which pictures they want and pay extra for them! Always look for photographers willing to give you all the images from the day on CD. That way you can get prints done at a fraction of the cost at your local photo printing lab.

3. Optional Extras and Photo Books – DIY!

With digital photography the era of the traditional wedding photo album has passed. Today you have stylish wedding photo books are a big hit with most couples – but the problem is if you go through your photographer these will often cost you an arm and a leg. However if you can spare the time and energy, it’s possible to design and create very stylish photobooks yourself, and get them printed at a relatively tiny cost. Ditto when it comes to canvas prints or blow up posters really – as long as you have high quality original image files from your photographer, you can pretty much do it all yourself!

4. Be Wary of Wedding Photography Scams

I have heard so many stories of unfortunate couples who have been taken in by unscrupulous con artists posing as wedding photographers. These swindlers will poach couples with cheap prices and slick sales pitches, receive their deposits or even full booking payments and then never be heard from again. It breaks my heart to hear about this sort of thing. However the good news is that they’re easily avoided. Make sure you pay any deposits via secure bank transfer as this can be traced in the event of a problem, and that you receive an invoice and receipt for your payment. And be sure to get a proper contract from the photographer which makes clear what you are getting and what you are paying for – this provides protection to the couple. Finally, and probably most importantly, the phrase “constant vigilance” applies here – go and visit the photographer before money changes hands, make sure you see examples of their work and ask questions about how everything will work – a good photographer will put your fears to rest.

5. Dont Go Over the Top!

My last tip is perhaps the opposite of a moneysaving one, but just as important as the others. Whilst trying to get the best possible deal and price beware of taking things too far! It’s worth repeating that out of all the services you pay for on your wedding day, the photography is quite possibly the most important to get right. There are a lot of amateurs out there with little experience, talent and lacking in the proper equipment. By focusing purely on the price you could be misled into thinking these offer a great deal. But often the real bargains are to be found by going up a level in pricing. Remember that if you don’t look at your photographer’s work and go “wow” what is the point in spending all that money on a professional?

Being a wedding photographer on the bride and grooms big day is a huge responsibility.  Heres some tips on making it go well.

1) Make sure you have a pre-defined list of pictures you are going to take. Check out the location ibeforehand and know where you want to position people for the best shots. Involve the bride and groom and ask their opinions on where they might like their photos taken and in what syle.

2) Speak to the best man. Weddings can deviate from the pre-agreed arrangements and its important to have a point of contact with the best man to help arrange groups and keep things in order. The last thing you should do is ask the bride and groom to help round people up for group shots.

3) Be prepared, very prepared. So much can go wrong so make sure you have a spare camera, batteries, SD cards etc. Request a detailed itinerary from the best man and attend any rehearsals.

4) Remember the little things. Intimate pictures of the rings, order of service, flowers etc can often be as powerful and appreciated as the typical portrait shots.

5) Pre plan the group shots. It can be tough to take a group shot of large numbers of people. Know in advance where and how this will be done and if you need ladders for example.

6) Be original. It can be all too easy to take the expected portrait and group shots and the end results can be a little boring. Take informal shots, mix with the wedding guests and be alert for interesting opportunities that present themselves.

7) Dont delete mistakes. With digital cameras the temptation exists to delete everything that wasnt a perfect shot. Very often you may be getting rid of some of the most best pictures.

8) Consider a second photographer. This can take the pressure off and sometimes 2 different perspectives will make for a better set of results.

9) Perfect shooting in different lighting conditions. You may be shooting in a poorly lit church where flash photography isn’t permitted or at a reception room that has no natural light. Make sure you know how to bounce a flash or diffuse it to get great results.

10) Be confident. At some point in the day you will be running the show and must be able to communicate effectively and calmly with people. Being shy simply isnt an option for a wedding photographer.

Written by Marten Holmes, a professional wedding photographer in Cornwall.

It used to be called a confinement. A woman was pregnant but it was improper to appear so in public. All that has certainly changed. Indeed, being pregnant and adding girth is a part of life. It is natural and nothing to be ashamed of. In fact, many ladies and couples want to record the special time when junior was on the inside sticking out. Here are some tips to make maternity shots memorable.

First, get the picture at the opportune time. Schedule the appointment with a professional photographer so that the picture is taken about the 30th week. This is best because the belly is protruding and is well rounded.

Secondly, be creative. In the warm weather, go outside for some shots. Indoor shots should be taken without a flash. The shadowing without a flash highlights the belly! If the lighting is insufficient, then stand by a window to get back lighting or accent your belly with artificial light.

Include the whole family in some shots. After all, older siblings are part of the family. They could all be touching Mom’s abdomen or frame her in the middle of the group. Children like to act up and get attention so, if you hire a photographer, be sure they are good at getting the kids to cooperate, to be serious but not too serious.

Wear tight clothing if you are going to leave your abdomen covered. Try something that fit before you found out you were pregnant. This will highlight the changes during these thirty weeks. If you want to leave your abdomen bare, that’s fine, but wear something that won’t embarrass you after the birth when you show off your pictures.

When planning the picture, look two directions. First, look around to make sure that your background is good. If it appears a tree or bush is growing out of someone’s head, that isn’t good. Indoors, make sure a mess isn’t in the background. Either move to a different location or put up a sheet to cover it.

Secondly, look ahead. It may be the person who cherishes this picture the most in years to come is the one in the womb. Therefore, plan the picture with him or her in mind. It is the earliest shot of his hidden presence.

The final bit of advice is to choose a good photographer wisely. Yes, you could do it yourself, but since this child will only be 30 weeks old one time, you will probably want the occasion recorded professionally. Find a photographer who is experienced in taking maternity photography and who has the equipment to do it right. Ask friends whom they will recommend. Go in and chat with them to see if you are comfortable working with them. When all is in order, you will be glad you went to the trouble and expense to record this very special time.

When most couples plan their wedding day they take a lot of things into consideration.  They think about coordinating the date for vacation times.  Or they coordinate the day on what is best maybe for family to make it into town.  Or they plan it based upon maybe available venues, like the church or the restaurant.

But one of the biggest things couples fail to plan for is the photographer.  This is no small matter.  And I am not just saying it because I am a wedding photographer

No planning the wedding day with the wedding photographer in mind could mean all the difference in the world. Especially when you realize that the photos are what are going to last a lifetime.

What are some of the factors when you start planning with the photographer in mind.  The time and the date.

First let’s start thinking about the time.  How many people want their photographer to rush through the photos? I am pretty certain that most people, couples especially, will not raise their hand to that thought.

Well without even thinking about your photographer, a lot of times couples will do just that.  They will force the photographer to rush his shots.

How so you ask?  Well a lot of times, the couple will schedule the ceremony for let’s say 1-2 pm. With the reception beginning at 2:30.  How many shots do you think the photographer can realistically get in with only half an hour to work with? Not that many.

Worse yet, what if he does get all the shots? Do you think they are going to take good quality shots when they are rushed?  Of course not.

So plan the wedding and reception with enough time in between to take the photos.

The second thing to think about when doing your planning is to keep the photographer’s availability in mind.

Most probably don’t realize this, but most good photographers will be booked months in advance. If you do deal with a large photo company, they very well could have several photographers on staff.

Well planning your wedding without considering your photographer’s availability could turn into a nightmare.  Because if you book that special day and don’t make sure that the actual photographer will be available, when your wedding day comes you might be shocked to find someone totally different.

This can happen when dealing with a large photographer company. You may not even realize that they have a staff of photographers and if the photographer you liked is booked, unless you ask, they might not tell you.  When your wedding day comes, they might just outsource their work or a second rate photographer might show up.

So be prepared and don’t let this happen.Making plans for your wedding day is special. Make sure that your plan has the wedding photographer in mind as well.
